That's it: I QUIT!!! ... Smoking

You might not care, but a couple of days after releasing the latest Quiz, I decided to finally put an end to years of smoking.

I've always been kind of a semi-heavy smoker, but I used to balance it by practicing several sports and engaging several activities. Yet, with the overly extensive quarantine we suffered last year in this backward country and other issues related to life itself, I noticed how bad it was for my health and how much quickly it was affecting me.

So I took the desition to quit smoking. It's my third attempt, and so far, the most serious one.

I tried smoking less each day, it's useless. I tried gum, patches and pills, they're useless. Now I simply cut it entirely in a split second.

Almost a month has passed since I put down my last death stick.... And, oh my dear God... It is sooo damnn hard!!!!! I can't even concentrate on anything, or take it out of my mind! I find myself walking in circles, going to bed extremely early and don't let me get started about my temper these days.

I'm telling you all this because it's a affecting my work output. Just think about it: a single render takes from 5 to 30 minutes... What I used to do during that time? Light a cigarette, of course. Now I can't stand standing still waiting for a render without the fucking thing!!! And that is, if I don't go straight to bed wishing for a new day to start in wich I hope I crave a little less for a smoke.

Now here's a piece of advice: don't treat smokers like shit. Don't shame them, go scream at them or treat them like plague carriers. Smoking is not a rational thing, it's purely passionate and vice related, and by doing so you only make them alienate and strenghten their vice or need for another smoke to calm themselves. Making or helping someone to decide to quit smoking is a long process, and they will need a friendly supportive environment. You must convince that person little by little and always in a supportive, positive way. Remember: addictions are not rational. You can't think them out. Not even when the side effects are noticeable and affecting their lifes. I hope this advice helps you is you ever need it.

I hope this week goes by smoothly. Tonight I'm trying to get back to captions and renders and maybe focusing on TG fiction will help me clear my mind. I know there are far worst addictions, but smoking turns out is no joke to quit and sadly it's my weakspot so far.

See you soon, and thanks for stopping by! (I don't become crazy).

  1. Ciao vip !

  5. Hey VIP,

I am a great fan of your work, because i love your art and storytelling. I think it is a great idea to quit smoking, because as someone who has severe asthma, i can tell you, lung diseases are terrible. I am very impressed, that you did a clean cut on your intake and managed to keep it like that for a whole month, keep Up the good Work. As for Something, that might Help you, find yourself somehting, that keeps your Hands occupied during your Renderings. Maybe Origami, or drawings or Something else, which you find interesting.

Keep Up the good Work and greetings Form Germany. 🥰

at some point I want to try hand drawing again, maybe get a cheap drawing tablet... But I can barely draw stick men it's going to be a long proccess!

I'm going through something similar, tried to quit recently, managed to cut down to 4 a day but then there was a covid lockdown and was stuck at home bored as hell and started smoking more 😔 hoping to give it a better shot soon but after finally getting back to work shifts been pretty stressful. Hope you manage to do better than me

A friend of mine says that you are ready to quit after you got a scare or bad health experience, and he might have point. Too bad sometimes the "scare" means is just too late
All Ican say is that you get through it day by day, and you are your worst enemy. But man it feels so good beating the odds!

  8. Well you can do it !

Don´t get yourself tempted by going near cigarets and you can make it !

Also it will get easyer in time eventualy you will manage to get the addiction so far out of your system that the urg to fall back will become neglegable

but please by the love of your godly art never take another smok into you grabby paws ever again

  10. I wish you a strong will. I know how hard it is. I just cant quit because i smoke weed and for that you need Tobacco.

But my longest abstinence (about a half year) i got by convincing myself that a cigarette tastes not good. I began to burn a cigarette, inhaled it 3 times and realized always myself that it doesnt taste good und threw it away.

Also i realized i could distract myself with doing something with my mouth, even its just sticking a cigarette on my mouth without burning it. I have a mouth focus like a child. That helped me too.

Quitting to smoke is really really hard and everyone have his own ways to solve it. But maybe this ideas can help you a little bit :), the hardest part are the first months, but its a lifelong fight!

    Be Strong!

  11. Go to your local place you get smokes look for the disposable Vap pens look for the ones that let you set the Nicotine dose and get one.

Use it when you get the Override Nic Attack.

And turn it down each week or sooner if you want.

This is how my friend quit same circumstance as you.

I understand I quit Cold Snuff after 30 years of 2.5 cans a day that's a huge pack count of Cigarettes.

You can do it. No shame in asking for understanding.
No shame in using the adjustable disposable van pin to step back.

    You Can do it.

in many captions you speak of a character having an adiction. I think now you are better able to understand their moods and their desires to get out of this adiction! Other people can you use your experience to make captions where the characters try to fight their adiction (whether they succeed or not, it's up to the author!)

  34. I feel with you. I hope to break my TG fetish addiction one day. I am spending too much time with it that I consider it harmful. It's great relax but there are other important things that I should do. I am here so I am still failing :-D Wish you luck. Breathing is great! I have also a little smoking fetish so I have tried short smoking periods in my 20s/30s but it was not enough to build addiction. I am happy that I have at least managed to stop doing harmful things because of my fetishes. Another example, I self medicate myself with hormones from black market. It was interesting experience but as I get older and I am learning how body is complex and fragile that it is not good idea to mess with it. Self-love is important! Now I am against modifying my body and I am proud to be male.

    1. It's great that you noticed it. Porn addiction is a thing and its a serious one too, after all, sex sells and it's everywhere!
You might share your experiences with self-medication, as some people believe it's no big deal andI would never recommend to mess with drugs or hormones

      Delete
    2. In my case, it caused depression after 2 months. I am positive uplifting person so it was really scary that hormones removed joy from my life. I can imagine that someone already in bad mental state might get suicidal. Another example blood clots might be life threatening. Hormones are changing balance in the body, something might get wrong. "Feeling healthy" is illusion without proper medical examination. It is better to have someone making sure that everything will be ok. As I get older I would say it is much better to love your body and dont push too much to alter it. Self-love is quite popular topic for women recently so it might be inspiring also for us who are looking for more feminine life.

  47. You may want to pick up Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking. I'm not a smoker myself but I've heard alot of people have been able to quit thanks to that book. It takes a different approach to most methods. Basically rather than relying on willpower to push you through it tries to change your mindset about smoking so less willpower is required to stay clean in the fist place.
Anyway, I hope your able to beat this addiction, keep at it! Your health is more important than these comics so I'm fine with any delay.
